The cemetery is neatly kept as is the approach from the highway to it, and is used currently by the people of the surrounding community.
Formerly the cemetery was near the St Joseph's Methodist Church building which was torn down in 1959 when the congregation disbanded.
It is not an old cemetery; the oldest recorded grave is that of J W Jones, who died May 16, 1920.

The St. Joseph Methodist Cemetery was located near the St. Joseph Methodist Church building which was torn down in 1959. To reach the cemetery, take Hwy 64 westward from Walterboro, continuing past Bells Crossroads until it intersects with SC Hwy 641, which forks to the left. Take Hwy 641, go past Whippy Swamp and the railroad tracks for some 2.2 miles where this highway intersects with Hwy S-15-18, then turn left again and travel southward about 3/4 mile. The cemetery is on the left-hand side of the road 50-60 feeet away. (This information comes from a book called Cemeteries of Upper Colleton County South Carolina by Evelyn McDaniel Frazier Bryan.)
