The Gee Cemetery was established for the family of Sack Pennington Gee and his wife, Mary Ann Brock Gee. The family had moved from Mississippi and settled in Claiborne Parish in 1836, where Sack amassed over 2400 acres of land and was a large slave holder. There are several neighbors and friends also buried in the cemetery. The last burial was in 1953. The Gee family had no remaining descendants. The cemetery was restored beginning in 1953 and all the vaults were restored and a beautiful fence was built around it. The cemetery is being well kept today.
Down the road, approx. half of a mile, there is another larger cemetery which was established for African Americans. It was initially also called Gee Cemetery, however, there is a sign now at the road which says “G” Cemetery.
