Formerly known as the Laris Saint Thomas Cemetery.

In 1880, Mr. Laris Manix, a land owner in Waller County, deeded 2 acres of his property to the Methodist Episcopal Church, Navasota District, to be used for a church and a cemetery to be named Laris St. Thomas Church and Cemetery.

The deed is recorded at the Courthouse in Hempstead, Waller County, Texas under Deed Records, pages 254-256. This deed was recorded on October 15, 1880 by Mr. W.F. Harper, County Clerk.

The church building was "Thrown up" in a hurry and consequently was poorly constructed. However, it served well until 1940 when it was completely demolished by a wind storm.

In the meantime, Mr Manix had sold his land to Mr. Menke and at the suggestion of Reverend Julius White, then the District Superintendent, the cemetery was relocated about one half miles south of the old location. The old location is located at coordinates 29.997653, -96,061015. No memorials can be found at the old location.

All memorial photographs have been taken for this cemetery as of 3/2017.
