Ash Grove Burying Ground is thought to be the second oldest cemetery in the area. The Methodist Episcopal Church was erected about 1788 and the land next to it was deeded to the church May 1792 for their burials. The oldest stone found was dated Dec 22, 1793 but there were earlier interments dating back as far as 1786. While it was on Methodist land, any person, regardless of religious affiliation could and were buried there.
