The first known survey of this cemetery was done by noted genealogist Dr. Allan E. Marble on June 9, 1968. He referred to the cemetery by name as “Woodlawn Cemetery” and assigned it an identifying number. For this cemetery, the number was 69. He recorded the location as Annapolis Royal. The cemetery is, however, located in Lequille.

At a later date, Genweb volunteers transcribed Dr. Marble's survey notes and made them available online at Rootsweb. At that time, the volunteers named it "Woodland Cemetery" but, in the Rootsweb index, they listed it simply as “Woodland”. They recorded the location as Lequille.

Please note that the cemetery has never had the name “Woodland Cemetery”. That name is included in the alias list only because Rootsweb volunteers gave it that name in error. This cemetery has always carried the name “Woodlawn Cemetery”.

Dr. Marble transcribed 472 headstones containing 992 inscriptions. The oldest identifiable stone is from 1845. This is an active cemetery, so the number of headstones and inscriptions is now higher than at the time of Dr. Marble’s survey in 1968.

DIRECTIONS: This cemetery is located on the west side of Highway 8, at Civic #9721.
