This cemetery was established to serve the pioneer settlers of the Perry community. The first burial here was that of Jane Leach, a schoolteacher who died in 1854. Perry was the site of several stores, a gin, school, Union Church, and a Post Office. Following a destructive 1873 storm, the residents moved to the townsite of New Perry (2 mi E). The settlement was relocated at the present site of Moody (2 mi SW) in 1881 when Santa Fe rail lines were completed to the area. Only this cemetery remains at the original site of the Perry community.

On Hwy 317 North of Moody Texas drive about 2.6 miles turn right on Joy Lynn Road, immediately turn left on Old Perry Loop and follow the road until you reach the cemetery. It is located on the left side of the road.

Description: This is a large lovely cemetery in Rural McLennan County Texas. It has great signage and is fenced. There is a Historical Marker attached to the rock fence post. The left side of the cemetery is fenced separately and appears to hold Hispanic burials. There are a few family fenced plots within the big part of the cemetery. This property sits above a beautiful valley with sweeping views of the area. It is well maintained and has room for expansion.
