Mr. M. C. McKenzie donated the land the cemetery is on to the Cemetery Association in the early 1900's. But it had already been in use for a few years. In 1980 International Paper of Gurdon, Arkansas released acreage on the north side to the cemetery and a fence was put up.

Bethlehem Cemetery was known as Bethlehem-Bushy Creek Cemetery. Section 29, Township 10 South, Range 19 West Turn off of Hwy. 53 South on Kansas Road. Kansas Road is the first road North of Doug's Gro. in Gurdon, Arkansas. There is a Bethlehem Baptist Church sign North of Kansas Road turn off. Go 7 miles down Kansas Road til you get to another Bethlehem Baptist Church sign on the right side of the road. The road right past the sign is McKenzie Road. Turn on McKenzie Road go about 1/2 mile to Bethlehem Cemetery.

There’s about 1,000 burials in this cemetery I have names for that many. Not counting the unmarked & unknown graves.

There are unmarked graves in the open space in this photo. There are not any records of who is there. The headstones for these graves have been weathered or destroyed over time.
