The cemetery is located on county road 347, two tenths of a mile east of State Highway 208 in far southeastern Mitchell County near the almost deserted town of Silver in Coke County, Texas. At one time there was a community called McKenzieville around the cemetery location but the cemetery is the only remaining trace. So many people from the area know the cemetery as McKenzieville Cemetery, despite the large cemetery sign, that even the directional sign off the highway says McKenzievlille Cemetery. The cemetery is now so closely associated with the Silver community of far northwestern Coke County that many people suppose the cemetery is also in Coke County.

Although few people live in the ranching and oil production area now, the cemetery is still used as people who grew up in the Silver or McKenzieville communities, or who have family ties from there, continue to be buried in the cemetery. The cemetery is in a very rural setting and is not landscaped, but weeds and brush are removed as needed. The view from the cemetery is of open pasture, often with cattle grazing bearby, and with a few small pumpjacks draining the last of the oil from under the ground. Although the short stretch of road leading up to the cemetery is public, a cattle guard must be crossed and livestock may be in the road, so be careful, and be sure to leave the gate to the cemetery closed to keep the livestock from getting in and knocking over the grave markers.
