The cemetery is well maintained, surrounded by a chain-link fence, the entrance gate on the right side is kept unlocked. Others graves than the three listed are likely present as some natural stones are possibly used as grave stones. There is little room to turn around and a few driveways further up the gravel road make it possible to reverse course.
James William Bethel buried his first wife, Victoria (Davenport) Bethel here in 1909. In 1943 he was buried next to her. An infant, Clyde Preston Bethel was buried here during the period James was married secondly to Elizabeth S. (Unknown Maiden Name). James was a farmer during his life, first in Amherst County, then Bedford County, and finally in Massies Mill, Nelson County, Virginia, by 1910. From the first marriage they had at least six sons and three daughters, and at least two daughters from the second marriage. A number of children from the first marriage are known to be buried at Jonesboro Cemetery in Roseland, Virginia.
