McKean Memorial Cemetery was constructed in the mid 1930's, designed by Walter J. Hall, the same man who built "Fallingwater", Frank Lloyd Wright's home southeast of Pittsburgh, PA. Bradford Landmark Society has blueprints of the administration building, the singing tower, the cemetery layout, and workbook with the names of the workers.

The Singing Tower was designed to be the focal point of the cemetery.

On Aug 11, 1938,a newspaper article said "tower will be 30 feet high, and built of native stone to conform with the architecture of the gateways and the administration building. " Water came out 2 sides of the tower into a pool. It played chimes and was lighted. In 2018 the Singing Tower was 80 years old.
