The Blackwells buried in this cemetery are the descendants of Robert Blackwell of Blackwell Island, New York. George G. Blackwell was born in New York and moved to Texas in 1837. He got a land grant in 1842 for 640 acres of land in Wimberley, Texas. George Blackwell was the first man buried in Wimberley. George and his wife, Sarah, were the parents of Josiah H. Blackwell and Virginia Amanda Blackwell. Josiah H. married Mary F. Rinard and she is buried in Jacobs Well Cemetery.
Mr. Spillar donated the land for this cemetery after Moses Bond Egger was thrown from his horse, broke his leg, and froze to death in that location. Moses Egger was the first person to be buried in the cemetery. To be buried in this cemetery, one must be a member of the association or have relatives buried there. The cemetery is located three miles west of Wimberley, Texas in Hays County, on Ranch Road 2325. The cemetery is up that road one forth of a mile on the right side of the road.
