Slate Hill Cemetery is a very old cemetery and it has a good number of "Unmarked Field Stones," as grave markers. It is literally located in the middle of a Corn Field. Although it is only about a mile from the village of Sagamore, PA, it is in the 16222 Zip code, for Dayton, PA, which is about 7 or 8 "Crow" miles away.
Driving directions are rather uncomplicated, but this will be an easy cemetery entrance to miss and, if the weather is muddy or snowy, once you arrive at the cemetery entrance, four wheel drive is certainly recommended.
From The Post Office, in Sagamore, PA, drive on Pennsylvania Route 210 north for 0.5 miles and turn left onto Miller Road. From this intersection, drive, onto South Miller Road, for 0.9 miles, to the intersection of Clearfield Pike and North Miller Road. Pass by Clearfield Pike and remain, to the right, on North Miller Road. Drive 0.1 miles, from this intersection and make a right turn, at the edge of the woods, into the 1st field, where the Slate Point Cemetery Sign is. (From this direction, you will have to look back and to your right, to see the cemetery entrance sign, as you drive, into the field.) When you turn into the field, drive on the "MUD" lane and go to the 1st "Y" in the "road" and bear right. Go to the 2nd "Y" in the "road" and then bear left, up the hill. While remaining, on the mud lane "Cowpath," from the 2nd "Y," drive 0.1 miles, up the hill and between the corn rows, to the cemetery.
