This is a family Cemetery located in Newton Co., GA (in the early 1800"s, it was in Walton County, GA) on Hightower Trail near the intersection of Johnson Road. The cemetery is located on private property situated on a hill partially surrounded by trees, with access by a well maintained gravel road. There are old plantings of Boxwood, Cedar and Crape Myrtle. There are approximately 43 known graves, with approximately 37 engraved tombstones and approximately 32 graves marked only with field stones. In the wooded area to the east, there is one engraved tombstone, and 15 to 20 graves marked only with fieldstones. All graves are facing east, which was a custom in old cemeteries, private and family, as well as church cemeteries. The oldest graves seem to be the three that are located in the Southeast corner, with only initials carved on rough, unpolished granite markers.
