Founded on May 19, 1876, Maple Park Cemetery and the Maple Park Cemetery Association began as a not-for-profit cemetery and still is one today. There is an unpaid Board of Directors that manages the cemetery with a Cemetery Superintendent's assistance for the day-to-day operations. There is an on-site office that visitors can receive help with finding burial locations or purchase grave spaces.

The cemetery has a beautiful historic gazebo just inside the entrance. It was initially built as a bandstand and for community use for gatherings and speeches. A few years ago, the board of directors undertook the massive task of restoring the gazebo to its original beauty. With the financial support of many people in the community, the restoration was completed, and ongoing regular preservation is done to ensure it remains for generations to come.

Maple Park Cemetery is well known for its large Maple trees. It is a popular spot year-round for photos and is very popular during the autumn due to the leaves' spectacular colors. The cemetery regularly has walkers, runners, and bicyclists to get exercise and enjoy the peacefulness and nature in the cemetery. This cemetery is a place of Tranquility in the city. To find the office, turn right on the first road inside of the cemetery. The office is a small stone cottage on your right, halfway between the entrance and the end of the road.
