Edison Roman Catholic Cemetery
"Protestant Hill"
1901 - 1926
ST. LOUIS GONZAGA ROMAN CATHOLIC CEMETERY
(formerly known as) EDISON, ALBERTA; 1901 - 1926
(Now encompassed in the Vimy/Westlock, Alberta area)
"This Memorial is in honour of the parishioners buried here in the Edison Cemetery, known as Protestant Hill. In July 1930 some remains were disinterred to the St. Patrick's Cemetery, Clyde, AB while some were disinterred to neighbouring cemeteries. Many still remain here in the original site which is 200 meters east of here. (Where the sign is posted - visible from the road: RR 261) The names can be found on a plaque at St. Patrick's Cemetery at Clyde. Further information is available at St. Mary's Parish, Westlock or from Peter Skitsko whose research we gratefully acknowledge. Without this research this project would remain incomplete, 100 years after the church burned.
(Sign created and posted in 2019)
We humbly pray that they are all at peace in their final resting place.
There is a rest area and more historical information at the cemetary. Please feel welcome."
While I personally acknowledge typos in the above quote, it was transcribed exactly as it is shown on the sign as you enter the path to this cemetery.
There is no parking area nearby (only on the road). This location is not wheelchair accessible. The cemetery is located 200 meters into the bush, via a maintained path.
