Add PhotosSan Agustín de las Cuevas in Tlalpan, Mexico City, a religious complex dating back to the 16th and 17th centuries, initially founded by Franciscan friars before coming under Dominican administration. Named after St. Augustine's feast day on August 28th, the site witnessed street name changes over time: Calle Real in colonial times, Guadalupe in the 19th century, and Ferrocarril during the Porfiriato era. Post-Mexican Revolution, it became Francisco I. Madero Street.
The temple features an ornate stucco facade and once held a clock from Spain (1827-1932). It consists of three naves, a main altar, and chapels honoring the Virgin of the Rosary and the Virgin of Sorrows. Noteworthy are its collection of New Spanish-era paintings and sculptures spanning the 14th to 16th centuries.
