The old Heidberge cemetery was inaugurated on November 30, 1807 by Pastor Völker, it was the successor to the first cemetery (churchyard) at the St. Pankratius Church.
The available space was only sufficient until shortly before the turn of the century. The last deceased was buried here in 1896. In the spring of 1959 the old Heidberge cemetery was converted into a park and later designated as a kindergarten area. Today the St. Jakobus day-care center is located on the site of the cemetery.
A massive stone cemetery cross still towers over the old resting place. The cross was donated in 1835 "in memory of the Lintel brothers", as can be read on the base. These are priests who emerged from the Lintel family in Emsdetten.
Memorial plaques with around 60 names remind of the former final resting place.
