McGuire Pet Cemetery
Londonderry, Rockingham County, New Hampshire, USA
Londonderry's pet cemetery is located off Delta Drive near the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport and was a legacy from Minnie McGuire of Manchester. Minnie was a life-long resident of the city and widow of George McGuire, a cigar maker known locally as the 'Father of Labor Day'. The couple had no human children but Minnie's feelings for her pets were made clear when she provided quite specifically and generously in her will for her three cats. That document also specified that part of the estate was to be used for the purpose of establishing an animal graveyard in the local area so that "lovers of domestic animals in Manchester may have a suitable place for the burial of their animal friends."
