Add PhotosCemetery Ristimäki is located in Vyborg (Viipuri) and is among the oldest of the graves of people of many faiths. At one time it occupied a fairly large area, which was the Swedish-German, Finnish parish, Orthodox, Greek Catholic, Mohammedan, Jewish, and then-Finnish city cemetery.
"Ristimäki"in Finnish means "Cross mountain" or "Cross hill". In the second half of the 19th century from the Transfiguration Cathedral here moved the Church, consecrated here in The name of all Saints. The wooden building burned down in 1917, and in 1936 a stone Church was built according To the project of U. Ulberg and A. Nikulin.
In the Ristimäki cemetery were tombs of the old families of Vyborg. The cemetery site was fenced around the perimeter by a fence made of boulders, in which several gates with metal doors were built. Only part of the graves of the Swedish-German, Greek-Catholic sites have survived to the present day. As a result of the wars of the 20th century, vandalism and industrial buildings almost completely disappeared Orthodox, Muslim, Jewish, Finnish cemeteries.
The only surviving monument – the memorial arch of the family graves family Wixted, which was erected in 1936 by the project of Juhani Vieste (Wixted).
