The church building no longer stands, but the cemetery still does.
This small disused cemetery is on the south side of LA-20 about one tenth of a mile west of Grand Bayou. The cemetery was cleared and documented and marker and gravesite preservation was undertaken by faculty and students of Nicholls State University in a 2007-2009 project. The church was disbanded in 1965 but the building continued to stand until 2011.
The property was acquired by the congregation of Little Zion Baptist Church in 1882. The property was sold to the congregation of St. Luke Baptist Church in 1907.
The much more recent Little Zion Congregational Church Cemetery, also in Chackbay, has been confused with this cemetery by some contributors.
