After the Second World War, the ethnic German population was expelled, and in 1956 the village, including church and cemetery, was demolished, and incorporated into the restricted border area. After the end of the Cold War and the opening of the border in 1991, the Czech National Park Sumava was founded, and the area around Knížecí Pláne became part of the national park.
In 1992, the former residents received permission to rebuild the gravestones in the cemetery and to renovate the site. In the place where the church used to stand, there is now a memorial plaque, a coat of arms of the princes of Schwarzenberg, and a restored war memorial for the fallen of the First World War from Fürstenhut.
There is only one house now in Knížecí Pláne, an inn. It is located on the former Selbitschka family estate.
---------------------------------------
