The county farm was operated by local residents for older people, many who had no one to care for them. A copy of a 1909 county paper told about the county farm and the committee named to find another, larger place for "paupers". First located down Oldham Road near Gum Corner School. It later was located on County Farm Road out of Wickliffe.
There are reports of many graves without markers.
Many people came from Cairo during the flood of 1937, as the waters were near the top of the levee.
