The property was purchased for the congregation on Feb 25, 1858 and St. John's Lutheran Congregation was formed. A log church was built. This congregation was active until the organization of Zion Evangelical Lutheran which is located 1/4 mile west and 1/4 mile north of this site.
The last two burials on this cemetery were those of Ben Hapke and Henry Lindwedel in 1937. In 1938, the directors held a sale and disposed of the furnishings and the building was razed.
In 1961, the Couple's Club elected to clear the brush from the cemetery and from that time on, the Club has mowed the cemetery.
In 1969, the surviving directors, Edwin Lindwedel and Alva Wagner met to close out the treasurer's books. The money was give to Zion Congregation's Cemetery Fund.
