St Nicholas was the original church in the Millbrook parish. It is visible on ordnance maps from the mid 19th century. It was established by the late 13th century a quarter of a mile from the river Test estuary. It suffered from regular flooding and a decision was made to build a new church for the parish. Holy Trinity Church was opened in 1874 but St Nicholas continued to be used until early in the 20th century. Damp and water took its toll on the building fabric and the last service was held 27 December 1920. A week later the east wall collapsed. The ruined St Nicholas building was completely demolished after World War II and the site was built over. The churchyard can still be found on the northwest corner of the junction of A33 Millbrook Road with Regents Park Road.

St Nicholas registers were transferred to Holy Trinity Church when it became the parish church. The Hampshire Archives holds a burial register for Hold Trinity parish dating from 1633-1918. Burials prior to 1874 would have certainly taken place at St Nicholas Churchyard.
