Directions to the cemetery: In Sharon Hill, from the intersection of Rt. 20 and Rt. 145, go west about a tenth of a mile and take the first left onto Slate Hill Road. You will immediately see the first farm on Slate Hill Road (house on right, barn on left). Just past the main barn you will see a long gravel farm road (a left turn off of Slate Hill Road). This farm road is 0.2 miles from where you turned onto Slate Hill Road. After asking the permission of the owners of the farm, turn left down this long gravel farm road. (The Sherman’s are the owners of the farm as of 2007. They are very gracious and welcoming of visitors to the cemetery. The long gravel farm road is on the right hand side of the barn.)
You will go 0.6 miles on this farm road, around a curve to the right. The road you are on will intersect with a smaller farm lane on the right, just before you would go down a hill. Turn right onto the smaller road and park. To your left are a clearing and then woods. Walk toward them past beehives on your left. You will see a wide path into the woods directly in front of you. It is marked by a large sign that says “VanSchaick Family Cemetery” (2006). If it is not winter or muddy, this is wide enough to drive on back to the cemetery. You go into a locust grove and at the base of the largest locust tree is the VanSchaick Family Cemetery.
