Search Willick Family Cemetery:

Nicholas and Anna Maria Willick, 1828 immigrants from the Elsass (Alsace) lived on this farm, Concession 3, Lot 2, Willoughby Township, in what became Welland County, Ontario. Here their family established a cemetery in the centre of the farm. Nicholas Willick who died in the mid-1839s (no marker remains) seems to be the first one buried here.

The family arrived in Canada as Roman Catholic immigrants, but some of the next generation joined other faith groups, such as the Mennonites and the Evangelische Gemeinschaft (German Methodists). One son, Joseph Willick, married a Mennonite, Esther Boyer, and served the local congregation as a deacon.

The Willick Mennonite Meeting disbanded in the late 1800s. The farm has grown up in brush, and the small cemetery, although decently cared for, has become very hard to find.
