Search Old Pikesville Cemetery:

Located about 1 mile north of Flippin, Kentucky, on Highway 249, across from "Old Pikeville Rd" and the site of Pikesville School #1 (1855-1929). This first recorded school at Pikesville was also identified in early public records as Common School #41 (1868,1886) and #6 (after 1900).

This cemetery site was near the southern boundary of 200 acres of land on Pikesville Branch originally granted and surveyed (1798) for Thomas Flippin. Thomas Flippin's mill and store and homesite were nearby. The (historic) 75-acre town of Pikesville (1818) was immediately north of this site. The date of the earliest burial(s) here is unknown.

There is community memory of several unidentified gravesites here, but no surviving grave markers. There may have been additional unknown and unmarked burials in this cemetery other than those listed.
