Inside next to the Federation Jewish cemetery
Within easy reach of many places within Greater London, Eastern London Cemetery is a new burial ground that is opening to ease the critical pressure for burial space that London has been facing for several years.
The original Rainham Cemetery was built in 1906, and quickly filled. At the time Rainham was a countryside village several miles outside of London.
In 1936 Rainham had become a suburb of Greater London and the next Rainham Cemetery opened. It has been operating successfully for eighty years but is now full.
2017 sees the opening of Eastern London Cemetery in Rainham, as finding burial plots within the London area has been critical for a number of years now, with lack of space in various boroughs.
