This cemetery in the grounds of the Anglican church of the same name has no existing headstones as all graves were removed some time in the 1960s. The cemetery dates back to the earliest days of Hurstville and was at the time the only cemetery in the municipality. It closed to burials in 1905.
St George`s Anglican Church has a sundial and paved area erected in the grounds at the front of the church to commemorate the cemetery which was cleared to enable the rectory to be built on the site.
The front inscription reads -
THIS PAVED AREA AND SUNDIAL WERE ERECTED TO COMMEMORATE THE CEMETERY LOCATED AT THE REAR OF THE CHURCH TILL 1964 WHEN THE SITE WAS CLEARED TO ENABLE THE RECTORY TO BE BUILT.
Dedicated - October 13th 1968 by Canon R.F.DILLON.
