Search Kinloch Chapel Mausoleum:

A very handsome new building in the form of a Church, with a massive Tower, on the south side of an enclosure surrounded by a high wall and now forming the Burial ground of the Family of Kinloch. The Ruins of a chapel stood on the exact spot occupied by the present structure but were demolished at its erection; it existed long prior to the Reformaiton.

Mr. and Mrs. Baxter of Chapelton say "The walls of a Popish Chapel covered with Ivy" stood on the exact spot occupied by the present building (which is intended as a mausoleum or vault for the family of Kinloch). James Fletcher, Land Steward to Mr. Kinloch, confirms this. So does Mr. Clark of Balmyle and is generally so understood in the neighbourhood.
