This overgrown cemetery is located at the center of once open farm land. Now densely overgrown except for a recently cleared dirt road to the center of the property. The road entrance is a several hundred yards north of Mack's Exxon Store at the edge of the property. There is a locked cable a couple hundred feet up the entrance road. Another quarter mile take the first road to the left and walk another 50 yards, cemetery is on the right. Ancient Poplars grow at the center of the cemetery. Near the edge you will see a small metal fence grave site of the Meeks, husband and wife. Could be up thirty sunken graves or more, all facing east-west. There are ten headstones with foot stones. Another 46 sunken graves were noted at last count. The cemetery has also been called the John Meeks Family Cemetery by the Nelson County Historical Society, Lovingston, Virginia, in their 2011 book, "Cemeteries of Nelson County Virginia." On April 2, 2017, members of the Massies Mill Ruritan Club and Sons of Confederate Veterans worked to cleanup the cemetery. One more workday is planned in the future to finalize the cleanup.
