The Peleg Gorton farm was outside of Lebanon Springs, New York. Peleg was a revolutionary war veteran and was a successful financier who lent money to General Washington and the Revolutionary Cause. In 1871, he with 5 others purchased the township of Painted Post, New York where a portion of Corning now stands. He then settled his sons on the purchase. In 1907 the property was owned by Will Kent Hatch.
