The first burial in the churchyard took place in February 1784,
before the chapel was completed in 1785.
Support for the chapel increased throughout the 19th century with a rebuilding in 1861, and the purchase in 1881 of land for a new graveyard.
The majority of burials in the churchyard took place during 1850 - 1899.
Following a fire in 1971, a new church was built a mile away in the centre of New Hey.
Burials continue in the new graveyard at Ogden, the latest know being in 2016.
The last burial in the old Churchyard was in 1963.
There are two burial books that detail the earliest burials, and they cover the periods
1784-1827 and 1814-1825.
