Historic Township: Marlborough
Location: IX Concession, parts of Lots 22 & 23
This is the first known Catholic Cemetery in the historic Marlborough Township and was used for burials by the Irish Catholics in the area until around 1867 when St. Clare's Catholic Cemetery opened nearby in the neighboring Goulbourn Township.
The site is unique in the area, if not unique in Ontario as the burials are in shallow graves with stone piles or "cairns" over top.
The site is accessible from a path starting opposite 4228 O'Neil Road. Go under the hydro lines, across the train tracks and into the woods. At a fork in the trail stay to the left and a short distance further the cemetery is marked with a Historic Plaque placed there in 1998 by the Rideau Township Historical Society.
