Written by Noah Zimmerman, noted local historian of the area.
For many years his(Michael Funk's) resting place was unknown until Miss Jeanne Adams, a genealogist for the D,A,R., made a remark about an old cemetery to the writer (Noah) and around 1958 the writer on hands and knees in an overgrown corner of the Thomas Henry Farm in Mexico, found the stones of Elizabeth Geigley Funk and Michael Funk. Michael's stone was intact but later mutilated and Elizabeth's was badly broken. In 1962 the brush was removed as best as could be done but because of interference it was again neglected until Mr. David Shellenberger of Mifflintown took initiative and has done a marvelous job of restoration. It has been kept nicely since 1972 (written 1980). Through the kindness of Thomas Henry and his wife, a deed for the cemetery and right of way to it has been given to the Lost Creek Mennonite Church trustees. The Lost Creek Church trustees, under the supervision of John Zendt, gave many hours of help. Source: Juniata Mennonite Historical Center publication: Echoes vol. III. no. 3 July 1980.
