Linden Cemetery #2
Linden, Cass County, Texas
This cemetery has not been used for burials since the mid-forties. The land was owned by Reed Beasley. He told the cemetery committee they could no longer use the land for burials. The first burials were in the late 1800's. The relatives and descendants had to locate another location for their burials. They now have the Macedonia Cemetery. The father of Joyce Pruitt Norman, Austin Pruitt, Sr., was buried in the cemetery in 1945 and the family has erected a Memorial Monument in the Macedonia Cemetery for him.
This cemetery is located directly behind (West) of the Linden Cemetery #1, just north of downtown Linden on Hwy 125. The cemetery is covered with underbrush and trees and could not be read in any order. Not sure how large the cemetery originally was. We are listing the names we did find, and names given to us by Vancie Gaines, Beth Kitchens, and Joyce Norman.
The cemetery is known to be predominantly black.
Cemetery was read 12 Dec 1995 by Melba Tims, Kathryn McAlexander, Irene Powell, Jane Nunn, John Livingston, and Gerald Hammock.
The above information was given to me by Charles Allen Steger of Atlanta, TX - Paul Ridenour, Garland, Texas, 26 Nov 2016.
