According to RIHCC:
"General Rochambeau and his army stopped at Waterman’s Tavern on Maple Valley Road in June of 1781 while on their march to the Battle of Yorktown. Shortly there after one of his soldier died of illness and was buried at this spot alongside Plainfield Pike. The spot is about 20 feet south of Plainfield Pike, Route #14, 25 feet west of telephone pole #33, on the south side of the stone wall, just east of a large pine tree. This is between Waterman Hill Road and Sisson Road."
