The cemetery is on private property and very little is known about the burials of this abandoned cemetery in Henry Township southwest of New Castle.

The pictures submitted were taken with permission from the property owner and are the only remaining grave markers. Due to the crumbled pieces and deteriorated writing they cannot accurately be assigned to particular memorials at this time but a best effort was made to match them.

Most of the information for individual memorials was compiled by various researchers from personal testimonies as no known official written record of the burials in McDaniel is known to exist.

The church was named after the pioneer Methodist Hugh McDonald whose name was mispronounced as McDaniel.

McDaniel Methodist Church started as an old log house and first held services in 1832. In 1837 part of the land was set aside as a burying ground for the members of the Methodist Episcopal Church USA. Services were discontinued at the church in the early 1900's, and with the passage of time the cemetery was abandoned.
