Cemetery is fenced, and was used by the Yancy and McElwain family with last burial around 1880. It sits on Highway 41 about a mile NW of Trenton, KY towards Hopkinsville, KY at the junction of KY 475. The McElwain home that sat in front of the cemetery burned in 2004, and the property is now owned by the Shackleford family and farmed. The 2-story wood frame home was built in the late 1800s after a former brick home burned.
The property was first owned by Samuel Moore who sold it to Gabriel Yancy in the early 1800s. One of Yancy's children married a McElwain. A McElwain descendant married a Camp in the 1920s, and that family held the property until just a few years ago. There are several burials that are unknown as the markers have disappeared with age. My mother remembers many more markers, and the burial area was bigger when she was growing up there in the 1930s and 1940s.
