The Parochial Chapel of Saint Helena in Knutsford, Cheshire, England was constructed in the medieval period, prior to 1316. The chapel's bell tower was rebuilt with stone during the reign of King Henry VIII. There were four bells in the belfry.
The ecclesiastical census of 1563 revealed 140 households or families living in the chapelry.
The chapelry was originally a part of the parish of Rostherne. By 1741, the Chapel of Saint Helena had fallen into disrepair and may have been at least partially collapsed. An Act of Parliament in 1741 created a separate parish for Knutsford, and its inhabitants began the construction of the present-day Church of Saint John the Baptist about one mile to the west of the old chapel. The new church was consecrated on the occasion of the Festival of Saint John on 24 June 1744.
The Chapel of Saint Helena was torn down and portions of the stonework were used in the construction of the new church.
The associated burial ground at the Chapel of Saint Helena may be even older than the chapel itself, dating from the twelfth century.
The chapelyard burial ground was left in place when the new church was built on its separate site to the west. In recent times, the remaining grave markers have been placed flat and fashioned in an outline of the foundation of the medieval chapel.
