Search South Yard:

The first meeting-house and burial ground, commonly called the "Town Yard" or "South Yard", were found on the west side of lower Main St., where a marker now stands. This meeting-house with its adjoining burial ground, was established in 1736, opposite the head of the Boston Rd. (now Baker St.). By 1840 the yard was in a state of neglect. Stone by stone the old yard vanished.
