The church of St. John was built in 1826, but is now closed for regular worship.
It is approached by a long entrance drive at the southern end of the town, opposite Knockbarry Cottages.
On the accompanying map, the church is at the end of the drive, south of Buttevant Castle.

It is estimated that there may be 300 burial plots.
Many headstones are illegible due to erosion.

There are 8 graves of British Army personnel who died in the years 1914-1920. These graves are cared for by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. They are located behind the Church.
