The cemetery was located on the Mable Carpenter farm. The site is now near the exit from northbound I-71/I-75 to Turfway Road. After sale of the farm to Henne Associates, the cemetery was legally abandoned. The remains, which consisted of two metallic caskets with glass face plates and 3 wooden coffins, were located by an archeologist. The remains were removed and stored by Linneman and Grubbs while legal requirements were satisfied. In May 1987, the remains were reinterred in the Florence Cemetery on the north side of the cemetery. The two burials identified via tombstone inscriptions were of Thomas L. Ashbrook and James Wesley Cheek. The map location is the approximate original location of the cemetery.
The cemetery is identified as the Ashbrook-Cheek Cemetery in the Boone County Family Cemetery Register, Volume 1, compiled by the Boone County Historic Preservation Review Board. The cemetery register sheet is dated August 4, 1987.
