Listed as "Mt. Zion Presbyterian (Cumberland) Church Site Cemetery" in "Talladega County, Alabama Tombstone Inscriptions of All Known Cemeteries 1700's to 1987", c. 1989 by Joseph W. and Francis S. Upchurch. It is located inside the tree line behind Riser's Chapel United Methodist Church, adjacent to the chain-link fence enclosed cemetery. In "Historic Tales of Talladega", c. 1959 by E. Grace Jemison, it was noted "There was at one time a Presbyterian Church near Riser's Chapel, as evidenced by an old cemetery, but records are unavailable." In 1985 there were seven marked graves here, interments dated between 1841 and 1897, as well as unmarked graves of Russell Family members documented in a family bible provided by Mrs. Mary W. Jackson.
In "Historic Tales of Talladega" and "The Presbyterian Church in Alabama", c. 1977 by James William Marshall, a Forest Hill Chapel, known as Huston's Chapel in the latter, was located on the James Huston plantation. In Ms. Jemison's work, it was said the chapel membership was composed almost entirely of Huston Family members. The first wife of James Cunningham Russell (1805-1882), sibling of two Russell sisters buried here, was Sarah Huston (1809-1848).
