"New Harmony Baptist Church was established in the year 1880. It sprung from the Canaan Baptist Church, Welch, Alabama. The first deacons to serve were Brothers H. S. Trammell and Austin Patterson. Meetings were held in a log school building that was located where the cemetery is currently located. In the year 1892, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Burdette deeded this property to the members of the church.
Throughout its history there have been three church buildings, including the present one. The contractor of the present church was the Phillips brothers of Roanoke."
