Oley Township: West side of Jefferson Street, .2 mile north of Main St., Oley, at eastern entrance to Oley Fairgrounds along property line of the wooded area. Size: 133' north to south and 68' east to west History: Visited by Chester L. DeTurk (1930) "On Sunday, Sept. 21, 1930 visited the Brile graveyard located on land owned by Wellington Bieber, Oley, close to the town. About 30 years ago there used to be in existence some legible tombstones, but none are visible today. There is evidence of quite a number of graves, they being marked with common hillstone and no inscription on the same. The original Briles or Breils are supposed to be buried here, and it is my opinion that (also buried here is) the first wife of Jacob Breil who was a daughter of Capt. Daniel DeTurck & Catharine (LeVan). Jacob Brile is buried at Friedens Cemetery, this place, alongside his second wife. This site is badly neglected and used as a dump." Could this have been a forerunner of Frieden's cemetery? It is not likely that the original Breils are buried here. Observations: There are 5 rows, 18 abreast, lying northeast to southwest. Burial pattern was detected immediately near the gate cable next to Jefferson St. and continues in the field along the woods. Pattern ceased at the point uphill towards Main St. where the area begins to level.
Site address: Far corner of Oley Fair Grounds along Jefferson and the woods.
