Unterigling is a small village, part of Igling, in Upper Bavaria, about 3 miles north of Landsberg-am-Lech. The cametery has two parts. One older one around the church, dedicated to Sankt Johannes der Täufer (St. John the Baptist) and a newer part across the street between Kirchgasse and Römerstrasse. The church dates back to 1748.
Please note that the graves in Germany are not perpetual. After a certain period of repose (10-15 years) the graves are being leveled and re-used. There is no toxic embalming being done in Germany, so the coffin and the corpse have decomposed naturally. If the family of the deceased decides to purchase another period the duration can be extended by another 15 years. War Graves are considered memorials and are kept up by the owner of the cemetery. Those are kept forever.
