Search Swavely Burial Ground:

Earl Township: From Rt. 562 1.3 miles east of Yellow House, left on Manatawny Rd .. 7 mile, right on Longview Rd., toward
Shanesville 1.4 mile, then left on farm lane.
Size: 100' north to south x 166' east to west
History: Adam Swavely, a Hessian soldier, is said to be buried in a private cemetery located in the "timber" southeast of William C. Shane's place, a "forlorn and neglected spot" (MHBA, p. 1533). Among the children of Adam were Adam Jr., Leonard, Jacob, Michael and Peter. Pete, Jonathan and Simon Swabely are shown in the area in 1862.
Gravemarkers and inscriptions: None remain.
Observations: Indicate 6 rows of 10 abreast laying northwest to southeast. Site is located in the comer of the lower field where the entrance lane turns right toward the stone house.
