Alsace Township: On the Charles Hauptley farm on lane leading from Laurel Top schoolhouse on Skyline Dr. east to the valley drained by tributary of Bingaman's Run. (HSBC, GA - K47) To reach site from northern end of Hampden Blvd, right on McKnight's Gap Rd .. 5 mile to first stop sign, then sharp left onto Sk-yline Dr. .7 mile to lane just before stone schoolhouse on right. Cemetery said to have stood on left side of lane, one block off Skyline Drive.
Size: 134' north to south x 250' east to west
History: This site is called the J. Fick grave yard because according to one of the owners a Jeremiah Fick is listed in the chain of title. On the 1862 Atlas a J. Fick is listed at this site. August 4th, 1823 Godfrey Fick's of Alsace will was filed naming 6 children, but
specifically two sons John and Peter. The following Ficks are mentioned in Alsace: 1862- A., Daniel, Peter & Samuel; 1876 -E., 1., P. and Samuel. This and the Hinnershitz/Huntzinger site are close as the crow flies and the families could be interrelated.
Gravemarkers and inscriptions: None found.
Observations: Indicates burials are east to west. Beginning on the left hand side of the lane after a bend to the right, Slightly below the lane and continuing 20 rows down to the edge of the field 250'. The width of the field is slightly irregular and in most places 15 abreast were detected. On the south side of the field near the middle 6 more rows continue up the hill at an angle.
