The Pringle Family Cemetery is presumed located on the plantation of Abraham & his six sons. It's exact location is unknown, but it is thought that several family members are interred there dating back to the first Pringle death of James Green Pringle in August 1840. The Pringle's settled in the Old Whynot area in about 1837. The Pringle's owned extensive lands that was located on both sides of Old Wire Road. The area at the time was considered to be in Old Whynot, MS some 3 miles north-west of the present Whynot in Lauderdale Co. The Pringle lands also bordered the old town of Vimville, MS, after 1867. Both villages Old Whynot & Vimville have passed into posterity. The Pringle Cemetery may have had unmarked stone markers. It was said that many relatives could not read or write so stone markers were sufficient. There has been speculation that some Pringle's may have been buried in the Old Brewster Cemetery in unmarked graves but no factual information has been found todate. After the Civil War, many of the Pringle's "Left for Texas" but a few went east back to Alabama. Most of the Pringle's lands have returned to overgrown forests. Anyone with detailed information on the deaths or burials of Pringles or know the whereabouts of a Pringle cemetery in south-east Lauderdale Co., MS, please contact the originator.
